Mentoring
Mentoring fosters growth by pairing experienced professionals with generally less experienced individuals, offering guidance, knowledge, and support. While mentoring relationships tend to be longer than coaching, the most effective ones go beyond directive advice, creating a two-way learning experience for both mentor and mentee.
After gaining a Law degree from the University of Birmingham, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Touche Ross (now Deloitte) before transitioning into financial management in law firms via merchant banking. Over the next decade, I progressed from Project Accountant to Finance Director within internationally focused law firms, leading teams and working closely with senior leadership across the UK, Asia, and the USA. Later, as Deputy COO of a UK/US firm and in addition to my role as FD of the non-US parts of the business, I led business development, marketing, and communications teams before becoming CFO and Board Member at law firm RPC LLP (2015–2023).
With decades of leadership experience in professional services, I now mentor professionals preparing for senior leadership roles or perhaps looking for new roles if in career transition. My mentoring background includes four years as mentor as part of The 30% Club programme (advancing female participation on Boards), co-leading RPC’s Gender Equality community (2018–2023), and mentoring clients across various sectors, including law, surveying, government, and retail.
